AKV - SORBENT FEROSID

REGENERABLE SORBENT "FEROSID"

The regenerable sorbent "Ferosid" is applied in the purification of natural and wastewaters from heavy metals, also Cr 6+, Cr 3+, Fe 2+, Fe 3+, organic, color and insoluble contaminants of any grade of dispersion. It is designed as a universal and effective sorbent for high-rate precipitation of contaminants. One of the most important advantages of the sorbent is that it does not cause additional salination of treated water and works with a wide range of contaminants. The sorbent generation is a proprietary trade secret. The sorbent generator can be easily incorporated into any water treatment plant. The sorbent can be generated “on site” from cheap and readily available materials.

General information:

• Sorbent “Ferosid” has density 5.2 g /cm 3, and has the ability to form up to 1 6 m 2 of sorption surface per one gram of sorbent.
• An average size of sorbent particle is approximately 0.2 micron.
• Sorbent consumption per contaminant ranges from 0.5 to 2 gram of sorbent per 1 gram of contaminant. Practical sorbent consumption for a target feed water can be determined by a simple test straight away ..
• The cost of removal of contaminants is estimated from 1.5 to 6. 0 US cent per 100 gram of contaminants.
• If necessary, the sorbent can chemically bind with some contaminants and form non-leachable stabilized waste compounds that can be disposed at low-regulated disposal sites.

Advantages:

• The sorbent application does not cause additional salination of treated water
• The sorbent works with a wide range of contaminants without use of chemical reagents or with use of chemical reagents .
• The sorbent generator can be easily incorporated into any water treatment plant
• The sorbent can be generated “on site” from inexpensive and readily available materials
• The sorbent sometimes can be regenerated.
• The sorbent has low filtration resistance
• The sorbent can be easily de-watered
• Storage of sorbent does not require hazard precautions
• Possibility for low waste control and disposal costs

Economic indicators:

Cost price of water from installation "Ferosid" (without amortization of installation "Ferosid" ) :

U* = N . C 1 + [(C 2 + C 3 + C 4 + C 5)/Q = ~0.55 USD/kg of contaminants or from 0.015 to 0.06USD/m 3 .
where,
N - consumption of electrical power for purification of water, e.g. 0.10 KW/m 3.
C 1 - cost of electrical power, e.g. 0.050 USD/KW
C 2 - cost of materials, e.g. 0.50 USD/ kg “Ferosid”
C 3 - salary to the attendants, e.g. 0.00 USD/year
C 4 - maintenance service costs of “Ferosid”, e.g. 0.00 USD/year
C 5 - other costs (sediment, transport, payment for the water drain, fines, etc.), e.g. 0.00 USD/year
Q - output, m 3/year

The costs of the customer on purification of water:

E = U* . k . Q = 0.55 . k . Q , USD/year
where,
k - concentration of contaminants , kg/m 3
e.g. for k = 0.10 kg /m 3 of contaminants :
E = 0.55 . 0.10 . Q = 0.055 . Q ; USD/m 3

Our contractual cost for installation "Ferosid" :

C = M + t . D ; USD
where,
M - material costs for manufacturing "Ferosid" ( ours or the customer) ; USD
t - our spent time for fulfillment of the agreement, days
D - our cost of time for fulfillment of the agreement, it is (taxes+ salary+ profit) or cash, USD/day

Cost price of water for our customer (with amortization of "Ferosid" , e.g. L = 5 years):
U = U* + C/(Q . L) = U* . k . Q + C/(Q . 5) , USD/m 3
where,
L - amortization of installation "Ferosid , years.
